A pastor once visited a small fishing village and noticed many boats tied securely at the shore. During a storm, the waves were strong, and the wind was fierce. Some boats drifted dangerously, but others remained steady and unmoved.

Curious, the pastor asked a fisherman why some boats stayed safe while others struggled. The fisherman replied, “The boats that remain steady are anchored deep. The storm does not decide their safety—the anchor does.”

This illustration reminds us of our spiritual life. Life brings storms—troubles, sickness, fear, and uncertainty. When our hope is anchored in circumstances, people, or possessions, we are easily shaken. But when our hope is anchored in Jesus Christ, we remain firm.

The Bible says that our hope in Christ is “an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” (Hebrews 6:19). Faith in Jesus keeps us steady even when life’s storms rage around us. The strength is not in us, but in where our hope is anchored.
