[247]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – SPIRALLING DOWNWARDS
There is nothing sadder than to see a light plane on fire and spiralling downwards to the ground. We know that is a tragedy that ends in death. Any spiralling downwards will be a disaster and death.
This poem looks at the state of the world and covers abortion, the destruction of the marriage God instituted, and the Chinese virus (Covid). This poem was written in the Covid period.
A Christian is not immune from the evils of the world, but does not go along with them. The world is in Satan’s hands but one day all control will fall into the government of Jesus Christ as He reigns on earth; when He will be King over the whole world. Zechariah 14:16-17 and Zechariah 14:9.
The rhyme scheme is not common. It is A-B-B-A
The opening of the poem is exactly what we have now –
“The world descends in deeper night
As darkness clothes morality.”
The world is an immoral place and that brings everything into gross darkness. That darkness gets progressively worse until the Second Coming. Then the great change happens –

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, AND GROSS DARKNESS THE PEOPLE: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. SPIRALLING DOWNWARDS
The world descends in deeper night
As darkness clothes morality.
The world steps from normality,
And gropes around not knowing right.

In the departure from the light
The world’s becoming more disturbed,
But Christian, you are not perturbed,
When on the Lord, you fix your sight.

Around you, you can clearly see
The fabric of this world is failing.
Men’s intrigues are now all ailing;
Controlled constraint has been set free.
======================
Then evil spawns to run its course:
And from the Chinese, thus derived,
The deadly virus, soon arrived.
All wickedness stems from its source.

From hell’s deep void, the darkest crimes
Have spawned upon the earth post-haste,
To kill the child and then lay waste
To marriage, as more evil climbs.

The Christian is a citizen
In this world, but not bound by it.
With God is where affections sit.
From the earth our hearts have risen.

One day will end the travesty
Where wicked men now hold the stage,
But then will turn another page,
When we behold God’s majesty.
