[220]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM - PRAISE THE LORD WHO’S WORTH IT
This poem is another attempt at a song. What is in my head I can not share with you, as I can’t write the music and harmony. I can do the lyrics but not the music.
The last poem I submitted called “Praise God! Praise God!” mentioned in the Introduction, that the word “praise” was used 13 times in Psalm 150. Praise features many times in the book of Psalms which is not surprising as the Psalms were the songs God gave for the singing of Israel.
In this poem of mine praise is mentioned 7 times including the chorus. Praise honours the Lord and for a reason I can not explain, it brings delight to God. {{Psalm 69:30-31 “I WILL PRAISE THE NAME OF GOD WITH SONG and shall magnify Him with thanksgiving, and IT WILL PLEASE THE LORD better than an ox or a young bull with horns and hoofs.”}}
In the KJV, we have this unusual translation – {{Psalm 22:3 “But thou art holy, O thou THAT INHABITEST THE PRAISES OF ISRAEL.”}}. Later the NKJ rendered it this way, {{“But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.”}} The 1995 NASB states it this way – {{“Yet You are holy, O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.”}}. There is this very special connection with praises and God. We ought to praise!
The Chorus of this poem is the call to praise, the encouragement to do so. The two bodies of 3 stanzas each, develop the teaching in this poem/song. There is an echo in every second line enclosed by brackets. Maybe someone can put this to music. I would love that very much.
You may notice there are a lot of exclamation marks in this poem. The reason for that is that when sung, it is sung with strong emphasis (a bit like staccato). We boldly proclaim the message. I hope you like this poem.
Most of the pronouns are in the second and third person and are plural. If you like you can make it more personal by the use of “I, me, my”.
