[218]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM - POEM OF CONTRASTS
This poem came to me when I was thinking about the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Lamb of God”
This is the One, strong, royal, who is the Overcomer. {Revelation 5:5 One of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping. Behold, THE LION THAT IS FROM THE TRIBE OF JUDAH, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals,”}}
Jesus is also the Lamb of God, meek, willing, led to slaughter, and the sacrifice for the whole world. {{John 1:29 “The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, THE LAMB OF GOD who takes away the sin of the world!”}}
There are many apparent contrasts in the bible and some apparent contradictions as well such as this – {{2 Corinthians 12:10 “Therefore, for Christ’s sake, I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG.”}}
I gathered some of the contrasts regarding the Lord Jesus and built the poem around them. This is an early poem after having misplaced it anywhere from the 1970s and 1980s. The following are written on:-
CONTRASTS WERE THESE:
Lord and Servant
Judge and Advocate
Lion and Lamb
Victim and Victor, etc.
Subject and King
Fairest of 10 000 and Man of Sorrows
Lamb and Shepherd
Each stanza has first two lines in contrast with the second two lines.
Hope you appreciate these names and titles of the Lord. They are wonderful for contemplation.

POEM OF CONTRASTS - ONE
Lion of the tribe of Judah,
A regal name He bears.
Lamb of God our sins upon Him.
A crown of thorns He wears.
=======================
Then as Victim, so He suffered
For all our sins and grief.
Now as Victor, ever liveth
To grant from sin, relief.
=======================
Subject once to His Father's will
And destined to the cross -
King of saints will ever reign
To keep His own from loss.
=======================
The Servant suffering for man's sin,
Did know man's fierce, hot sword.
Triumphant o'er the grave and now
He lives! The conquering Lord.
=======================
Full Fairest of ten thousand, He
Takes heaven's centre place.
But Man of Sorrows first became -
Was bruised and marred of face.
=======================
Our Advocate for erring saints,
Believers' pure delight.
Judge of the world He will appear,
Then mountains take their flight.
=======================
The Lamb becomes the Sacrifice,
When He our sins did bear.
Beside still waters leadeth me,
The Shepherd's tender care.
