[201]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – PEACE IN LIFE’S STORMS

We may say things and write things, then one day God may put us to the test. Just as I am writing an introduction for this poem – just today in 2025, a problem has arisen for one of my family, and caused by satanic workings of a certain group. I won’t give details but we are truly blind if we think certain religions are not our enemy.

One day after ministry Jesus asked His disciples to go over to the other side of the sea and Jesus, being tired, was asleep in the boat. Then a great storm arose and the disciples thought they might be drowned. Their last resort was Jesus for they had seen many miracles and now THEY needed physical salvation.

This is that stunning incident I think taught the disciples much:-

{{Luke 8:22-25 Now it came about on one of those days, that He and His disciples got into a boat and He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake,” and they launched out, but as they were sailing along He fell asleep and a fierce gale of wind descended upon the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. They came to Him and woke Him up saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” and being aroused, He rebuked the wind and the surging waves and they stopped, and it became calm. He said to them, “WHERE IS YOUR FAITH?” and they were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”}}

This same Jesus can calm the storms of life that rage against us, especially if we are Christians. These trials are meant to unsettle us and cause a fracture in faith. Satan aims for disharmony and confusion. What did the disciples lack? Jesus told them when He calmed the sea – [[He said to them, “Where is your faith?”]] Our faith is often lacking or insubstantial.

May the Lord give us the victory in our lives for we most certainly need it.

{{James 1:2-4 “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that THE TESTING OF YOUR FAITH produces endurance, and let endurance have its perfect result that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”}}

PEACE IN LIFE’S STORMS

Peace came to the angry waves

For Jesus alone had the power to save.

See how now the sea behaves -

A millstream pond when He commandment gave.

====================

Reverential fear descends.

And His disciples quaked in wonderment.

Calm supplants where strong wind rends.

Then Christ stood there serene. The storm was spent.

====================

Storms of life may fiercely blow;

Rough waves to swamp; and lightning bolts that flash.

Your own boat no more can row.

Against the rocks you will most likely crash.

====================

By yourself you cannot win,

Or yourself, overthrow the angry waves.

Jesus only deals with sin.

In storms, now heed the call that Jesus saves.

====================

He’s the One who calms life’s sea;

Who stands amid the storms to order peace.

Apprehends the powers that be;

Commands the raging storms that they might cease.
