[090]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – SPECIFIC – FOR ELDERLY CHRISTIANS - THE THREE Ds
We come to the last poem in the 9 Part trilogy, and it is in the section SPECIFIC, addressed to Elderly Christians. Older Christians are the workhorse in the Church, plodding along for decades bearing the load. In their golden years, the Lord’s blessings are upon them for the work well done.
The older years may bring pain and suffering as our old bodies start letting us down. However the Lord is closer and closer. I knew a man once who said, all he wants to do is to go home. Some years ago he went home. A sister in the Lord tells me the same thing too.
Jesus is our Lighthouse, the One who has gone before so that we might follow when the call from the Lord comes.
There are 9 poems in this Trilogy series. This poem is part of a Trilogy - three sets of three. The first set is addressed to MEN, the second to ALL CHRISTIANS and the third is SPECIFIC. This is the third one in the third set - FOR ELDERLY CHRISTIANS.
ALL these poems follow the same format as they address the subject. ALL poems have 5 stanzas – Introduction; 3 stanzas for the subject; and the last stanza sums up. All poems feature three words based on a letter in the Alphabet. This time the letter is “D”.
DEATH is destined for everyone unless the Rapture comes and the Lord removes us. Many want to stay here, for they see many things to do but the older one gets, the more the Lord’s personal presence is desired. Death is the doorway into heaven; the staircase rising to the feet of Jesus; the pathway from the cross to glory.
DOUBT is a state where faith falters. Let it never happen. As the Lord saved you and has kept you, so He will be faithful to you and hold your hand until you are safe with Him. Lord, help my unbelief. Faithful is He who called you who will bring it to pass.
DISAPPOINTMENT can be real. There maybe things you desired to do for the Lord but time has run out. The servant of the Lord never stops in his and her ministry. I am sure Paul wished to visit more churches and to preach the gospel, but he knew the time of his departure was near.
(a). {{James 1:5-6 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him, but let him ask in faith WITHOUT ANY DOUBTING, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”}}
(b). {{1 Peter 2:6 This is contained in Scripture: “Behold I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone, and he who believes in Him SHALL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.”}}
(c). {{Romans 5:5 “and HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”}}
(d). {{Romans 6:8-9 “Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again. DEATH NO LONGER IS MASTER over Him,”}}
(e). {{Romans 8:38-39 “for I am convinced that NEITHER DEATH, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”}}

FOR ELDERLY CHRISTIANS - THE THREE Ds
The latter years of earthly life may focus on three Ds -
Reflective times for one’s old age in varying degrees.
The elderly have passed beyond the energetic years
But still the mind remembers well the happiness and tears.
============================================
Some future DEATH will occupy a focus in one’s mind,
For destined to each one it is; but it’s a door you’ll find,
Fulfilling heaven’s great desire, accomplished in God’s love,
That ransomed souls may dine with Him, when called to bliss above.
============================================
At times in loneliness and fear, may surface a few DOUBTS,
But that’s the time assurance rules, and from God’s word it shouts.
His promise makes for victories; allows your faith to claim
A peaceful rest in times of doubt; a rest claimed in His Name.
============================================
Assessment of the things you’ve done can cause you some regret.
Your DISAPPOINTMENT can be real, and may cause some to fret.
Some things you may have left undone, with others - not begun,
But dwell now in this present time, for here, your race you run.
============================================
Old age should be a joyous time while waiting His return.
Your wisdom and experience, you share as you discern.
Your crowning beauty is the Lord; serve Him in prayer and deed.
Dwell not upon three Ds but on, assisting those in need.
