[027] A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – BASED ON PSALM 91
When people are asked for their favourite Psalm, usually Psalm 23 is given, the Shepherd Psalm. There are a few who chose Psalm 91 as a Psalm they love and the reasons are not hard to find in this Psalm. This is a beautiful Psalm.
I am pasting the full Psalm in this Poem illustration for I have taken material very heavily from the Psalm to form this poem. The stanzas follow the Psalm in order.
There are many lovely quotations that have been taken from this Psalm for texts and cards and quotes. Verse 11 is quoted in the New Testament, but it was Satan who quoted it, and it was quoted wrongly.
{{Luke 4:9 He led Him to Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here
Luke 4:10 for it is written, ‘He will give His angels charge concerning You to guard You,’
Luke 4:11 and, ‘On their hands they will bear You up, lest You strike Your foot against a stone.’}}
In verse 11 of the Luke account Satan omitted the most important words that are found in verse 11 of Psalm 91 “In ALL your ways,” is very necessary for the great fact of dependence and care from God. By cutting it off, you are destroying the thorough care of God. Satan is cunning, perverse and deadly.
This wonderful Psalm is full of comfort and assurance and shouts God’s providence. What more shall we want? We need it before our eyes in shining words for it reveals the heart of God for all His dear children.
I hope you find comfort in these scriptures and/or on the poem as well.
{{Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

===================================================
BASED ON PSALM 91
There is a shelter where to hide,
That God, Most High, has granted us.
And in His shadow there abide;
Almighty near, and glorious.
============================
My refuge and my fortress true,
My only God in whom I trust:-
When trappers’ snares against me grew,
Delivered me from what’s unjust.
============================
Because Your hand upon me is,
The deadly pestilence I’ll skirt.
The cov’ring pinions - they are His;
Beneath His wings, a refuge girt.
============================
No terror will you fear by night,
Or pestilence that stalks the dark,
Or arrows by the day in flight;
No noon destruction leaves its mark.
============================
A thousand foes fall at your side,
And ten times that at your right hand.
Approach you not, some wicked tide;
Their recompense you’ll understand.
============================
My refuge, you have made the Lord,
No plague will come near to your tent.
You dwell, with the Most High aboard,
No evil will befall or rent.
============================
O’er you He gives His angels charge,
To guard you in your every way.
Their hands will bear you up at large;
Protect your foot from stones that lay.
============================
The roaring lion will not harm,
The poison cobra you’ll subdue.
Young lions prowl but you’ll be calm,
You’ll trample them that come ‘gainst you.
============================
“Because his love for Me is known,
Him therefore, I will deliver.
My name revered; to Me he’s flown.
On high I’ll set him there secure.
============================
And when he calls upon My name -
On Me; then answer him, I will.
In trouble be with him, to claim;
To rescue, honour; I’ll fulfil.”
