RIGHT AND WRONG

Years ago, when I lived on South Holmes Street, I used the Super D pharmacy that was nearby. There was a young woman who worked there with whom I had occasional conversations. She told me that everyone in her family had had an abortion except her. She added that she did not judge them because everyone should be able to decide for himself what is right.

When a person takes a position, ask him/her to push it to its logical conclusion. I replied, “What if I think it’s all right to pick up a stick and knock you in the head?” She pondered that momentarily and replied, “Well, it would be all right for you but bad for me.”

So for justice and well-being there has to be a judgment on what is right and wrong. And letting the standard vary from person to person makes no sense.
