From Obscurity to Importance Because of an Event

Prior to June of 1815 hardly anyone in the world had heard of a small village in Belgium. It was in fact so small that it was scarcely found on any map. But after June 18, 1815 that microscopic village became infinitely important because of what happened there. From that day forward history would forever remember Waterloo as the place where Napoleon met his match. Similarly, the planet Earth is but a tiny speck in space. But it is on this puny planet of ours that God decreed to resolve forever the problem of sin when He sent His Son to die. The earth is now of supreme significance because of what took place here when Jesus died for our sins.
