CHILDREN AND THEIR FATHERS

An old English proverb tells how important fathers are. It says: "A father is more than a hundred schoolmasters." Fathers are often more appreciated at different ages of their children. Mark Twain had the candour to admit a change in his perception of his father: "When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to twenty-one, I was astonished how much he had learned in seven years!"
