DEPRIVED OF GOD’S LIGHT

I was reading in one of the CIA espionage or spy books I love to read, and the writer was discussing the strange effects we suffer when we are deprived of sunlight during the winter months. Drs. Michael Terman and Jamie Rifkin wrote: "During the cold war with Russia, B-52 bombers loaded with nuclear missiles would fly sorties over Greenland, Iceland Sweden, Finland and Russia, and they refueled in mid-air, sometimes staying aloft for days. There are two major physiological phenomena that created fatigue for such pilots and crew: sleep loss and circadian rhythm disruption or internal body clock. Air Force doctors wrote protocol that required the pilot to fly above the clouds for long periods, so their bodies and minds could properly adjust. Without these periods of adjustment, an entire crew could be rendered mindless robots."

It is in the same way that our spiritual body clocks malfunction, when we deprive ourselves of God’s shining face, because it is hidden by the everyday stresses and activities of life.
