A Thanks Offering For His Plans for Us
Jeremiah 29:11-13 says, "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek me with all your heart.'"
At the writing of this verse, the prophet Jeremiah heard that some of the false prophets who were taken into captivity for seventy years in Babylon, were predicting an early fall of Babylon and an early restoration of the exiles back to Judah. Jeremiah's letter warned the exiles against the deceptions of these false preachers and urged them to wait patiently upon the Lord.
Just as there were false prophets in the time of Jeremiah, there are false preachers today proclaiming a false prosperity that cause people to tell God what He is to do, how to do it while expecting results right now. These people are always looking for something better, Now! This modern day attitude of God being a bellboy is leaving people deep in dept, dissatisfied in their present condition in life, thus causing our high divorce rates, people deep in dept and disabling people from waiting upon the Lord.
