"Moment of Truth" is a television show where contestants can win money by confessing the truth. Lauren was on a recent episode and went through some routine questions working her way up to $25,000. Then the questions got tough about adultery and lying. With her husband in the audience, she confessed to adultery and marrying the wrong man with little remorse. Then came the $100,000 question: “Do you think your are a good person?” With slight hesitation, Lauren said, “Yes.” But the computer said “False!” Deep inside, Lauren knew she was not a good person. Because no one is really good. Only through Jesus can we know salvation.
Sin is painful. People are going on national television to confess their sins and even win money. But that doesn’t fix anything. Lauren lost all the money and may have lost her marriage. And still does not know the only way to salvation. Jesus is the only way, the only truth, the only life. There is no other way. We will all face a moment of truth. The question will not be “Are you a good person?” but “Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?”
