My Dad’s Flowers
The air is cool today, the streets are wet with last nights rain. I went out to do some cleaning and saw my Dad’s flowers come to bloom, so beautiful. You see, My Dad has been away for 10 years now, living in Hong Kong and one of his main concerns before he left the PI (Philippine Islands) was “Who will take care of my Flowers?”.
Dad’s words came to haunt me today, I felt the tug of shame since I really haven’t taken care of the flowers that he loves so much. Since I can remember, I just let God do the watering of the plants, daily, and boy how he took real good care of these orchids.
Thinking more of it, I guess it wasn’t really the flowers that my Dad was worrying about, but it was “Me and Julieth.” We are in some way Dad’s most precious flowers, who he has took pains in caring for so long, in more than a million ways he has given us more than we deserve. In deed, “who will take care of US?” while he is away.
Quickly a verse comes to mind. Psalms 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; 8 I will counsel you and watch over you. V.10 Many are the woes of the wicked, Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.
