Word-Of-Mouth (WOM) Ad spending on blogs, podcasts and RSS will reach $49.8 million in ‘06, up 144.9% from ’05 claims PQ Media. By ‘10, total advertising spending on the category will reach $757 million. Although a tiny fraction of total online marketing spending, 60% of U.S. Internet marketers will do something with WOM marketing in ’06. WOM marketing is commonly defined as a media tactic, often online, in which a message is communicated by neutral parties to wider communities via channels such as blogs, social networks, and e-mail forwards.
