Are We Ready To Do What God Designed Us To Do?
Contributed by Sermon Central on Jul 26, 2004 (message contributor)
Are we ready to do what God designed us to do?
Some of you may remember back in January I showed you this cordless drill that I had as a gift from my Mother for Christmas. As with gifts that God gives us, I mentioned, at the time, that it would be no point in me having this gift if I didn’t use it. My task was to use the drill to build a tree house for Cerys and Ieuan. (my two small children) The good news is that the drill worked well and phase 1 of the tree house is complete. A key thing that I didn’t mention at the time was that it wasn’t only important that I use the gift but also that I use it in the right way. If I had used this drill as a saw, the tree house would still now be a pile of wood. If I had used it as a hammer I would still have the pile of wood but with the added problem of now having a broken gift. It was important that I used my Christmas Gift for the purpose for which it was designed. From the very beginning of this gift’s concept the designer planned for it to be a drill, not a hammer or a saw. From the very start of our lives God chose us to be his very own. He now wants us to follow the perfect plan he has for us by doing his will.
