Jonathan Goforth

The reason we preach the Gospel is because we love God our heavenly Father and not to gain brownie points in heaven. Yes it will be hard work at times.

Story: The well known Canadian missionary, Jonathan Goforth told this story about the joy that God has - when we are faithful in doing what he has entrusted his church with.

When Jonathan was 16, his father bought a second farm in Canada and put Jonathan in charge of one of the fields and told him to get it ready for harvest.

Jonathan ploughed it, weeded it, bought the best grain and when the harvest was ready, he showed it to his father.

His father stood on a hill and surveyed it all. He said nothing – but smiled. Jonathan Goforth used to say that it was that smile that said it all.

So it is with our Heavenly Father when we do what he has entrusted us to do.

I often wonder if God smiling at what I am doing?
