The Pastor's Life Poem
Contributed by Loyd C. Taylor on Sep 26, 2025 (message contributor)
The Pastor’s Life
Lived by an Amazing Man
He serves in a lofty position—
not something he chased in life;
He heard the Gospel story,
then stepped into the pastor’s life.
He stayed in the Word—he loved it;
it was his heart’s delight;
And he shared it every chance he got—
so needed in the pastor’s life.
He answered the call to preach,
and he gave his best day and night;
Spirit-filled, Bible-true sermons—
fit for the pastor’s life.
God gave him a companion,
and she became his loving wife;
She didn’t just “marry a preacher”—
she partnered in the pastor’s life.
They’ve served the Lord together,
faithful day and night;
And walked through hard days too—
that’s part of the pastor’s life.
He helps folks carry burdens,
whatever be their plight;
He brings a little light to dark places—
so needed in the pastor’s life.
He’s fought through many battles—
real spiritual fights;
Praying for souls, staying steady—
God’s work in the pastor’s life.
Sometimes he’s been awakened
by a call late in the night;
From somebody needing courage—
another weight in the pastor’s life.
Sometimes he’s taken hard words,
and felt like taking flight;
But he stays, with a tender heart—
that’s still part of the pastor’s life.
You see him on Sundays—of course—
and he’s available day or night;
And if you only saw the surface,
you might miss the pastor’s life.
Don’t take him for granted—
help make his burden light;
Show love to this man of God—
so needed in our pastor’s life!
Dedication: Dedicated to all who answered the call to preach.

Like Moses, your pastor cannot and is not expected by God to do the work by himself. Like Moses pastors need others who will hold his arms high that they may be steadied and that he may be able to lead as God would have him do.
