Boosegumps
Contributed by David Dunn on Sep 13, 2025 (message contributor)
BooseGumps
Good morning, boys and girls.
Have you ever felt something wonderful inside—like tiny happy bubbles
that make you want to smile from the inside out?
Not like bubbles in a 7-Up or soda can—these are bubbles that only your heart can feel.
I call them Boosegumps. Now, if you were to go to a dictionary to look up the meaning
of the word, Boosegumps you wouldn't find it, because it's a made up word - kinda.
Is that ok?
Boosegumps. Can you say boosegumps?
Boosegumps aren’t bumps on your skin like goosebumps.
They’re heart-tingles of joy that come when you do the right thing and choose God’s way.
>>Helping at Home
Yesterday, Maya helped her mom without even being asked.
She put away the shoes, folded the towels, and even swept the porch.
When her mom came in and said, “Wow, thank you!” Maya’s heart felt warm and light.
That gentle glow inside? Those were Boosegumps.
>>Kind to the Neighbor Dog
One afternoon Liam saw the neighbor’s dog slip out of its gate.
Instead of ignoring it, he gently called, “Here, buddy,” and helped guide the dog safely back.
The neighbor smiled and said, “Thank you for caring!”
And Liam felt those happy little tingles again—Boosegumps!
>>Quiet Goodness
Sometimes Boosegumps arrive when nobody else even sees.
Like when you let your little brother have the bigger cookie,
or when you quietly pick up trash at the park.
Nobody claps. Nobody posts a picture.
But God smiles, and you feel it—Boosegumps.
>>God’s Secret Signal
Boosegumps are like a secret signal from Jesus.
It’s His way of whispering, “Good job. I love the kindness I see in you.”
The Bible says,
“It is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good
purpose.” —Philippians 2:13
What it really means is --- every time you choose kindness or
obedience, it’s really --- God’s love moving through you.
>>The Greatest Boosegump of All
There’s an even bigger kind of Boosegump.
It happens when you say Yes to Jesus Himself.
When you invite Him to be your forever Friend and Savior,
He forgives every wrong thing you’ve ever done and fills you with His Spirit.
That’s the deepest, happiest Boosegump—knowing you belong to Jesus
and will live with Him forever.
>>Your Turn This Week
So this week, look for chances to welcome Boosegumps:
- Help at home before anyone asks.
- Be kind to your brothers and sisters
- Be gentle with animals.
- Say something kind to someone lonely.
- Pick up something that isn’t yours—just to make the world prettier.
Every time you choose God’s way,
you’ll feel those tiny happy bubbles of joy because Jesus is living inside you.
>>Let’s pray together:
Dear Jesus, thank You for the happy Boosegumps we feel when we follow You.
Please live in our hearts, forgive our sins, and help us share Your love
everywhere we go this week. Amen.
