Putting Up Faith Or Fight When It’s Most Important

Over the decades of my life, I have learned there are some things in life worth fighting for and some not. We have to choose our battles and then fight with all our might those battles that really matter.
Years ago, I attended the wedding of my niece, a beautiful blonde cowgirl. She married her high school sweetheart in a beautiful wedding set by the lake. All the family was there.
After the ceremony was over, other events took place like dancing, eating, and of course lots of picture taking.
And the bouquet toss. All of us who were unmarried lined up to catch the bouquet. Up it went and everyone began shouting and running to try to catch it.
And I caught it! Well, me and my niece’s best friend, who was in the bouquet line next to me. And a tug of war over that bouquet ensued with an intensity no one saw coming as we both shouted It’s mine! It's mine!! And grabbed the bouquet and then flowers back and forth from each other viciously. You would have thought we were fighting over an actual man, we were each so determined.
When we were done, she had the bouquet and I had some scraggly stems the flowers had been pulled off of, and all the guests were taking pictures and laughing.
I had not caught the bouquet per se, but our fight over it helped make that wedding the most memorable one I've attended.
That’s one battle I guess I should have stood on faith to win.
Especially since I had performed the ceremony!
