When We Raise Our Hands, God Will Intervene
Contributed by Saumiman Saud on Feb 18, 2025 (message contributor)
WHEN WE RAISE OUR HANDS, GOD WILL INTERVENE
Heavenly Father, I have just realized how Almighty You are, even though I have known this for a long time. Forgive me, Father, for often facing various problems relying only on myself. It turns out that I am limited and have no strength of my own. Therefore, at this moment, I want to surrender to You alone. In the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray, Amen.
"And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed."(Exodus 17:11)
Moses was a leader who also served as a patron or role model for his followers. When the Amalekites came to attack, he knew exactly how to devise the best strategy for battle. Moses positioned Joshua to advance in the battle, while he went up the mountain to raise the staff of God. Uniquely, when Moses raised his hands, Joshua prevailed, but when he lowered his hands, the Amalekites prevailed13. That's why Moses struggled hard, even though his hands were tired, he kept raising them and supporting them with a stone. The issue was not the "staff" held by Moses, but how much Moses obeyed and continued to rely on the Lord.
It is the same in our lives; if we do not rely on the Lord, our strength will vanish and fear will emerge. Often God's children forget this; when difficulties entangle us, what happens? We always seek help from others, resulting in disappointment. Human promises are difficult to keep; when they need us, are happy, or healthy, their promises may flow smoothly, but conversely, when we are no longer needed or in times of trouble and sickness, promises remain just promises2.
My Father in Heaven, it is now clear to me that You are my only refuge. I pray that my heart remains obedient and faithful to You. I know that Your power is eternal, while human power is limited to the time they are still alive. Forgive me if I have often been negligent and left You. In the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray, Amen.(SS)
