The Captain Of The Lord's Hosts
Contributed by Dr. Larry Petton on Mar 17, 2023 (message contributor)
The “Captain of the Lord’s Hosts” is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. We call this a CHRISTOPHANY.
The word translated as, “Angel”, is another word for “Messenger” and does not limit the Divinity of Christ or make him a mere angel.
What does Scripture say about the “Angel of the Lord” and how do we know that he was Jesus in the Old Testament?
• This “Angel” is the Great “I AM” (Ex. 3:2, John 8:58).
• This “Angel” is named “WONDERFUL” (Judges 13:18).
• This “Angel” has the power to remove SIN (Zech. 3:1-4).
• This “Angel” can redeem sinners from EVIL (Isaiah 63:9).
• This “Angel” received WORSHIP (Joshua 5:15, Rev. 22:8-9).
