People Leading To The Flood
Contributed by Paul Clemente on Oct 31, 2022 (message contributor)
Genesis 5
Focus is v1….
In v1-2, isn’t God just repeating Himself? – God detailed the 2 types of “man” He created – male and female!
What’s significant about v3? – Adam and Eve had other children as alluded to in earlier chapters; v3 indicates that Seth was a special person!
Why do you think God included ages in Scriptures? – It gives us a timeframe of how the earth was being populated.
How many kids could Adam have had? – We can do the math if Eve can have kids every 9 months and Adam lived 800 years; i.e. lots of kids!
Why would God again give same type info here for Seth, as God did for Adam and others? – God gives us the lineage of Seth.
In v21-23, why was Enoch so special? – He was a godly man who lived a life on earth then was taken to heaven by God (Enoch is an example of “resurrection” (body on earth then body in heaven).
Was Enoch the only one special? – At that moment yes, but again, not only was Elijah also taken directly to heaven, those who believe in Jesus Christ will also be taken to heaven.
What is significant about the last half of Genesis 5? – It tells us how long people lived before the flood and sets up the people who will live through the flood.
