An Illustration About Ephesians 2:9

The author of this illustration is G. M. Landis. I have no idea who this person is or was. I had bought a Bible at a thrift store and the piece of paper with this illustration was inside the front cover (this was a hardcover Bible). The illustration itself appears to have been written for a daily devotional or maybe part of a Sunday school lesson. There is also an anonymous poem attached to the illustration. Again, none of this is mine but I got a blessing from it and hope you will too.
The text follows:
"If we could save ourselves by our own good works, it would not have been necessary for Christ to have died, and we would have reason to boast of what we had done. But God will not permit flesh to glory in His presence. The praise of those in heaven (sic) is not of man but of the Lamb that was slain and who has redeemed them by His blood."--G.M. Landis
The following anonymous poem, as mentioned, was printed below the illustration:
"Worthy the Lamb enthroned on high,
"to be exalted thus!
"Worthy the Lamb who died, we cry,
"For He was slain for us.
"Jesus is worthy to receive
"Honor and power divine:
"And blessings more than we can give
"Be, Lord, forever Thine."

Obedience is inherit in the relationship of man (as a created being) with God, the Creator. The New Covenant does not do away with the need for obedience to God. In fact, it supply the strength to live that way. Heaven will be a place of obedience to God.

God's grace as the avenue of salvation is sometimes seen as being in conflict with obedience of the believer as a requirement, without which salvation cannot be obtained. Which is it, or is it a combination? Can this dichotomy be satisfactorily resolved?
