When I was pastoring in Texas, an unknown man called our church office and asked for the Senior Pastor. The call was transferred to me and I quickly discovered that I had a frantic man on the line whom I didn’t know. He told me how horrible his life was and how he couldn’t stand living in “hell one more day!”

Then he started screaming on the phone. “Pastor, you’ve got to help me. Pastor, you’ve got to save me! Pastor, you’ve got to help me NOW!” Then he paused and said, “Pastor, I have a gun to my head this very moment and, if you cannot give me a reason to live, I am going to blow my brains out right here on this phone call!”

Let me tell you that I told him about Jesus, the mighty to save. He’s the one who can rescue the perishing and I cannot save anyone. I resigned from the rescue business a long time ago. I can’t save anyone. I can’t make anyone trust Christ. I can’t rescue anyone’s life or marriage unless they want His help.

Jesus is the Rescuer.

Jesus is the Savior.

Jesus is the Miracle Worker.

Jesus is the Lord….not me.

I am in Sales – He is in Management.
