  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Take what you need - need what you take. There is nothing new under the sun - but you may find something here that is said in a new and fresh way that will help someone hear the Gospel and respond. You have freedom to use but not misuse all that I've made available here for the sake of God's Kingdom advancing.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Just before he died, a miserly stingy old man demanded that his wife cash out all their bank accounts and collect all his money from his many hiding spots and put it all in a big black bag in the attic so that he could grab it and take it with him on his way up to heaven. Well after he died and they held the funeral in their home the wife, very curious, went up to the see if he took it with him. It was still there. She shook her head and said, "I told him he should put it in the basement."
  • Family: Married. Seven children. Made six and found one. Still looking and praying and have room for more God willing. Bigger Circles.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Father has never heard it and never will. My Mama likes it - but thinks I'm a bit long winded.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: I always wait for her 'Mark that one' comment. She is very earnest, open and honest with her comments of how God used my preaching.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: "Stay out of the way - we want to see Jesus."
  • Books that have had an impact: Bible - for real.
  • Hobbies: Coaching, Art, Soccer, Baseball, Writing.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: the Gospel...one more time.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I preached a series on cleaning out all the junk in your lives and used a number like 1.800.GOT.JUNK but had to change it up because they wouldn't let me use it. I changed the first three numbers and during the series, when I talked about the dangers of pornography someone asked me if I had ever tried the number we mailed out and stamped on everything we handed out. I hadn't. But before I preached I dialed it and sure enough it was an adult phone line. I was mortified and told the church. Yikes
  • What I want on my tombstone: He Made a Forever Difference...
