About Samuel
  • Experience: Studied and served under 2 great Pastors for over 20 years before becoming a Pastor. Had the opportunity to preach frequently at various churches in Houston, Austin, and Louisiana
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: The Word of God is of utmost importance in my life and I try to convey in simple terms the impact accepting Christ can bring.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: A Series on the Study of John- it opened my eyes as to the magnitude of each miracle and ways they impact
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The depth of love and compassion Our Savior displayed from the cross- if He in that much pain and suffering, can take time to forgive and care about others- shouldn’t we?
  • Family: Married to my high school sweetheart,Cassandra, for 41 years. Four children, four grandchildren.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My father was a Pastor most of his adult life and was able to witness my first sermon. He was so proud but then went on to be with the Lord and my mother thereafter. I know he’d be pleased and supportive
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is very supportive and sometimes surprised at what the Spirit brings out of me when I preach. She loves to study the Word also-a true help meet.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: “Just preach Jesus” by my father, the late Pastor Morris Brown Bass
  • Books that have had an impact: Bible- the most fascinating and illuminating book I’ve ever had the privilege to read and explore.
  • Hobbies: Studying God's Word Mentoring youths Fishing Hunting
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: If you never do anything else in life, please accept the Savior as your own!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Someone from the floor yelled out a correction to a word I kept mispronouncing and I said it correctly then mispronounced it again and I had to laugh!
  • What I want on my tombstone: Jesus Saves
