About Ron
  • Education: I graduted from Lee’s Summit High school in 1981 without a clue as to what God had in store for me. I also graduated from Calvary Bible College in May of 2000. I have hopes of continuing my education with a Master’s of Theology and then a Doctorate of Communication.
  • Experience: I worked in a ministry which focused on telling people involved in cults, any kind, about the true Jesus Christ from 1994 until 1998. At that time, I devoloped a new ministry focus - to educate fellow believer’s about how to talk to people involved in cults that they know on a daily basis. I thought they could reach more people than I could. March 2002 I was called to be the interim pastor at Greenwood Christian Church. They asked us to accept the position as pastor in May 2002 and we accepted.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I hope these will help you and feel free to comment on any part of this sermon. I welcome constructive criticism.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The biggest thing that made a difference in my life was a study I did on Hell. The study took me about six months but it was well worth it. It made me more focused on helping people get to know Jesus Christ, so they could avoid an eternity in that dreadful place.
  • Family: God has blessed me with a WONDERFUL bride that is my rock and my most treasured companion. She has given me help in times of trouble and support when I was not worthy of it. She is truly a gift from God. I am also very proud of my son Kirk, who is becoming the man of God I always dreamed and prayed he would be. I am more and more impressed with his growth into manhood each day. Kirk is a great helper and I could not manage our household and ministry without his help. My daughter Abigayle is a breath of fresh air God has given our entire family. She truly embodies the love of life that God wishes for all of us. She is following in her mother’s footsteps as a proverbs 31 woman, although she is growing up way to fast for my tastes.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is dictating this, "Witty, well-organized, thought - provoking, well written, and wonderful." I know this sounds like a commericial but it is really what she said.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: God wants a clean vessel to work through, apply what you preach. Dr. Jim Rayford
  • Books that have had an impact: Disciplines of a Godly Man, By John R. Stott. It turned my life around.
  • Hobbies: I like to ride my Harley-Davidson anytime I get the chance. The idea of being out on the open road listening to my favorite praise songs brings me closer to Jesus.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Don’t remember my name, just the name of the One who sent me!
