About Rodney
  • Education: Academic Diploma, Rose Bud High School, Rose Bud, AR. B.A., Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. Harding University completed 16 hours towards Master of Ministry degree.
  • Experience: Served as a fill-in and interim minister from Fall 2000 until July 2008 in Northeast and Central Arkansas. I began my first full-time ministry in July 2008 in Groveton, Texas and served until March 2019 and then did fill-in ministry again in East Texas. Began June 2022 as minister of Hickory Ridge Church of Christ in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas. I was coordinator of Deep East Texas Summer Youth Series 2015-2018 and a counselor at Ark-La-Tex Christian Encampment near Houghton, LA and at Backwoods Christian Camp near Lineville, AL. I have been a guest panelist for Give Me The Bible TV program in Tyler, TX and speaker for Speaking the Truth in Love in Jonesboro, AR. I have spoken at various gospel meetings and lectureships in Texas and Arkansas.
  • Family: I am married to a wonderful lady named Janet. Together we have 5 children: Luke, Rebecca, Jennifer, Jill, and Jessica.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Several mentors have helped me and given me good advice over the years including: Wil Sadler, Jimmy Young, Bob McDoniel, Daniel Page, Randy Stephens, Gary Cook, Virgil Cullum, Dr. Joe Spaulding, Jim Dubose, Bob Owen, Jerry Rains, Jerry Gardner, and Neil Kemper. My elders in Groveton, TX have been very supportive and encouraging. Many of them also have preached the word: P.D. Hamilton, James Due, Bill Rasbeary, Ted Hemness, Ben Rasbeary, John Nelson and also the elders at Harrisburg, AR: Mark Weston, Ray Blanchard, and Bill Mears
  • Books that have had an impact: The Bible
  • Hobbies: Reading, hiking, history, and spending time with friends and family. I am a member of Weiner Lions Club. I am also a former member and officer of the Groveton Lions Club, volunteer with Tri-Cities Youth Softball, Relay for Life, and Trinity County Toys for Tots.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: I would give the basic plan of salvation and plead for lost souls to obey it.
