About Rodney
  • Education: BS Degree in Finance from University of Alabama
  • Experience: I am currently the assistant pastor of two churches. They are not full time (every Sunday) churches. They are Salem Primitive Baptist Church and New True Vine Primitive Baptist Church. I have been in the ministry for a little over 2 years.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: The key to getting the most out of any sermon is to listen with the help of the Holy Spirit. I hope that my sermons are a benefit to you and that they help spread the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: One of my favorite sermons and the one that I think has made a difference is titled "Love Is What Love Does". This sermon deals with the meaning of love, loving yourself, and loving each other. My members seemed to enjoy this sermon and stated that it really helped them.
  • Family: My immediate family consists of my wife and my two beautiful daughters. I come from a large, close knit family. My grandfather was a minister and he taught me a lot about living the life of a Christian.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Practice what you preach!
  • Books that have had an impact: There are several books that have made a difference. One I am reading now that is good is titled "Growing a Christian Personality" by R Lofton Hudson.
  • Hobbies: My hobbies are writing, reading, spending time with my family, and surfing the internet.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: There are two essential things Christians must do. They are: 1. Love God and One Another wholeheartedly. 2. Obey God’s Word wholeheartedly. The two are connected. You can’t have one without the other!
  • What I want on my tombstone: I Fought A Good Fight. I Finished My Course. I Kept The Faith!

I was reading a great book the other day that gave me the inspiration for this sermon. It discussed ways of growing as a Christian. It really opened my eyes to how ambiguously some people viewed the question, "What is a Christian?" This is a question that has been asked by many people, and ...read more

This sermon discusses the 3 methods of communication God has and still uses to communicate with his people.

The key to any successful relationship is communication. This is true in the case of a marriage, a parent-child, brother-sister, or any other type of relationship. It is also very true of our relationship with God. We need to ensure that our lines of communication are open when it comes to our ...read more
