About Rickey
  • Education: B.S. from Mid-America Christian University with a double major in Pastoral Ministry and Theology and a minor in counseling. M.Div from Denver Seminary with a specialization in chaplaincy.
  • Experience: I have 21 years of pastoral ministry experience. I have been in the military for 19 years. The last 9 years I have been a military chaplain.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Preach the Gospel
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Gospel Grace
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Imputation: two books with book covers. One book represents me and one book represents Jesus. The cover is marked accordingly. The contents of the book represent everything that each has done. In the case of the book marked me, it is filled with sins of comission and omission. In the case of the book marked Jesus, it is filled with perfection, righteousness, and godliness. When Jesus died on the cross, my sins were imputed to him and his righteousness was imputed to me. (At this point, swap the book covers so that Jesus covers my book and Me covers Jesus’ book.) When we accept Jesus as our saviour he took our sins and God gave us His righteousness.
  • Family: I have been married since 1983 to the same beautiful bride and we have three children.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: I don’t know they are not alive
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She enjoys them
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Preach the Gospel
  • Books that have had an impact: The Cross-Centered Life Living the Cross-Centered Life Humility Respectable Sins When Sinners Say I Do
  • Hobbies: Running College Football Wood Crafts
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Christ died for our sins...
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: When I went to the restroom I left the lapel microphone on and everyone heard what I was doing.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He Preached and Lived the Gospel
