About Patrick
  • Education: I have a bachelor’s degree in Theology.
  • Experience: Saved in 1994. I have served as deacon, minister, and elder. I was called to Pastor in 1998 and served as Pastor, Bibleway Evangelistic Temple, Okinawa, Japan for 2 years. I am serving in the U.S. Marine Corps as well and was recently ordered back to Virginia where I am currently preaching and teaching at our Headquarters Church located in Dumfries, Virginia.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I have a heart for people and attempt to tug at the heart of man. I am led to deal with tough stuff. I pray the sermons touch your lives, as much as your sermons certainly have touched mine.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: As For me and My House We Will Serve The Lord, Dr. Tony Evans, Promise Keepers event 1995.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Jesus as our defense attorney. The Lord God as Judge. Satan as prosecutor.......All charges dismissed and covered by the blood!
  • Family: I am the husband of one wife, Sister Andrea D. Lenney. We have two sons, Vance, 11, and Jacob, 4. My wife is an active and integral part of my ministry called to teach and lead women through godly living. My children love to praise the Lord!
  • What my parents think of my sermons: They enjoy them, they request them often. My mother works at an old folks home and she has them listening to me weekly. I am blessed by them so much.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She has grown to enjoy my style of preaching. We are an interracial couple and she was brought up with the hum it up style. I have that in the drawer, but am teacher/preacher. I stay in the scriptures verse by verse and break down every word. The sermon I submitted in dealing with letting things go...really was a step away from my ordinary preparation. She desires my style now, and I am certainly complimented by it.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Be yourself. The Lord will use your own stuff. If He wanted a replica, He would have made it so!!! It is what makes each preacher fresh, humble, and reliant upon the Lord.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Word of God Spiritual Gifts The Making of A Leader Armorbearor (All 3 books) The Attitude of a Servant
  • Hobbies: Softball, fishing, and hunting. Spending time with wife. And also my sons.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: He did it for you!!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I preached a message concerning doing battle with the enemy. I used a large pair of red boxing gloves to gain attention and as an illustration....During the message I was moving while preaching as to hit my armorbearer, I did...for real.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He made an impact!

As we grow in Christ, there exists within us a "faith" that grows. It is beyond just believing. It is a way of life. Sometimes it seems we grow weary, we can become faithless, and it is in these moments that we must know the Lord loves us, and is preparing us to do His will.
