About Marty
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I have yet to share one.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The Table Series
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Homemade brownies, short story: teens want to go to a movie and ask if they can, the explain their is just a little of this and a little of that but nothing real bad in it. Has the best actors and a quality writer. Mom says we will talk after dinner. Dinner come and goes, mom brings out brownies for desert and says, these were made with your grandmas favorite recipe, all the best ingredients and with all my love but, I went out in the back yard and got some dog poop and added to the batter. You see how a little bit of crap can ruin everything.
  • Family: My wife Cherie and I co-pastor, our adult daughter Kyla leads worship and our son plays drums and run our IT department. It is for sure a family church.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My mother passed when I was 13 in my arms but she prayed I would preach the gospel. My adopted dad before he passed loved to listen to me speak. My blood dad whom I met when I was 12 is also a pastor and we love to share our preaching with each other.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is very encouraging and when I can get her to speak it is often better than I do myself.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: People will accept Jesus or they won’t, strive to win them but move on if they are just wasting your time. Focus on the ones that show their need.
  • Books that have had an impact: Max Lucado He Chose The Nails
  • Hobbies: Hanging out with the street people in their camps. Often I will take a back pack, turn my phone off and dive into an area of OKC that has many homeless camps. I love interacting with the people, I want to know their stories and I want to tell them how Jesus saved me and can do the same for them. I enjoy hunting, camping and scuba diving.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus never fails, he loves and values you. He will never let you down.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I forgot my wife’s name and went blank, at that time we had been married 20 years.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Loving husband, father and brother, He loved as Jesus Did
