About Martin
  • Education: B.S. Social Work @ Oklahoma State University 1986 M-Div. Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1989
  • Experience: I’ve served bi-vocationally and full time in the ministry for 25 years (more than half my life). Over the years I’ve served as minister-of-everything-the-pastr-didn’t-want-to-do and then I’ve been a pastor since 1989.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: We all milk the same cow. Don’t forget to churn your own butter!
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The one that led me to Salvation was an important one, but I was only 7 years old so I can’t tell you the actual content of it. That was my spiritual starting point for me.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: I love the story about the man who had to clarify his insurance claim - he had been injured while trying to lower a barrel of bricks from a 6 story building and decided to use a rope and pulley. The barrel weighing 500 pounds whisked him off the ground... it’s hilarious.
  • Family: Yeah I have a super family. I’m really blessed, but I don’t mention them on the internet - too many weirdos out there.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Love them!
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She’s a tough critic, but she thinks I’m always improving.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: No one ever complained about a sermon being too short.
  • Books that have had an impact: I like most books by John Maxwell. Robert Jeffress is Brilliant. I like Josh McDowells apologetical works.
  • Hobbies: Music, home improvement, doing things with my wife kids.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: I told you there would be a rapture before the ...whoa!!!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Not much
  • What I want on my tombstone: He made an impact for the Kingdom of God because he loved Jesus
