About Jerilyn
  • Education: I attended Catholic school, from 2nd grade until 5th grade. I then attended public school 6th thru 12th grade. I graduated from Bloomfield High school, in Bloomfield,Ct. After High school, I attended Community College for 1year and half. Wanting to attend Bible College, Not sure where yet!
  • Experience: I had always been a spiritual child. I read my bible, the children’s stories bible, I guess I was hungry for more. After I turned 18yrs old, I walked away from God, wanted to see what was out in the world, went to the nightclubs, but it wasn’t what I wanted, I knew that there was something more out there for me , not sure what.I attended a southern Baptist Church, where the pastor reintroduced me to Jesus Christ,My first friend.I found the bible interesting, I read it day and night, I just devoured what was in the bible. I started praying, and asking God, what my purpose in life was supposed to be. He didn’t tell me right way, It wasn’t my time yet.But in 2000, He aswered my prayer, He told me that I was going to have a teaching ministry. I was told that I had a call on my life, I didn’t believe it.I had to hear it from God. He has changed my life for the better.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The sermon of the water, in Ezekiel 37
  • One of my favorite illustrations: about the seeds, and how we harvest, it is seedtime and harvest
  • Family: My mother taught Sunday school, and then when I was a child, she taught Children’s choir, and then my father taught sunday school. I grew up in the Black Baptist churches, where my parents were members
  • What my parents think of my sermons: wonderful, exciting
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: They could expound alittle bit more on the scripture!
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Just to go with the flow of the Holy Spirit
  • Books that have had an impact: The Passionate Life, The Purpose-driven Life, and the Women of the Bible
  • Hobbies: Fishing, watching t.v. reading the bible, and doing bible studies, working on my sermons for the weekend services
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: seek after Jesus!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: When I started preaching one sunday, I had to go to the bathroom, and I just started, letting wind, intermittingly ,during my sermon!
  • What I want on my tombstone: I led those I came in contact with to Jesus!
