About James
  • Education: B.ES; B.ARCH; MNIA; ARCON
  • Experience: Trained as an architect but called to be a pastor-teacher, evangelist and leader in training and mentoring of up-coming leaders for the work of the ministry.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I am in a learning process as a disciple. The little I learnt, I share to bless others.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Teachings on holiness, faith and revival by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent/Senior Pastor, Deeper Christian Life Ministry
  • One of my favorite illustrations: "Except this abide in the ship, they cannot be saved"
  • Family: I was born on 29th March, 1964 into the Awosina's family of Erio-Ekiti village, in the Yoruba-speaking South-West of Nigeria. My father, Gabriel Akomolafe Awosina was a carpenter while my mother is a seamstress. I was three months old when my father died. My uncle, Jacob Olatunji Awosina raised me up and trained me to university level.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: They have no privilege of hearing me preach
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is my frankest and greatest critic. Wide rooms for improvement.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Remain tough in spite of adversity
  • Books that have had an impact: * Power through Prayer - E. M. Bounds * Knowing God - J. I. Parker * Spiritual Leadership - Oswald J. Sanders * The man whom God Uses - Oswald J. Smith * Several books by C. H. Spurgeon
  • Hobbies: * Reading * Writing * Designing of buildings
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Lord, let all glory be ascribed to your name!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I once wish I could run out of the pulpit for someone else to take over during one of my preachings on the pulpit when I was having running nose.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He was a burning and a shining light

The route to the experience of the presence of God is earnest desire to seek Him. God will not draw near to us if we have no thirst and hunger for His fellowship.

INTIMACY WITH GOD: OUR SOULS’ DESPERATE NEED Psalms 42:1 “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God” In these days of abysmal disconnect from God, the most fitting inspirational counsel is “Draw nigh to God” James 4:8. Our hearts are prone to wander away ...read more

The apostolic charge to every preacher and teacher of the word is "study". Our ministry will lack the substance of divine approval and saving, sanctifying power without the diligent study of the Word of God on daily basis.

STUDYING FOR DIVINE APPROVAL 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” Paul was Timothy’s mentor, pastor and leader. He understood perfectly Timothy’s shortcomings as a young pastor under his tutelage. To ...read more

  • Faith’s Response To The Word For Optimal Profit

To profit from the Word requires an action of faith. Reading, hearing and receiving the Word passively and superficially is of no profit to a person.

FAITH’S RESPONSE TO THE WORD FOR OPTIMAL PROFIT Hebrews 4:2 “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it” “The Word preached did not profit them…” What a fearful declaration! From the text ...read more
