About David
  • Education: Bacholor of Science Degree in Education Mississippi State University.
  • Experience: Youth Pastor Ethel Baptist Church Pastor Bethlehem Baptist Church
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I preach the Word of God without any fancy trappings. Just what God gives me. You can use them, or change them in any way you want just so you don’t take God and Jesus out of them.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: About Hudson Taylor. He was returning to China from England and his ship was becalmed. The Captain had been giving him a hard time about his faith and praying during the voyage. On the horizon a pirate ship was coming toward them. Pirates ships had oars so they could move during periods of no wind. The Captain told Taylor "Praying man if you believe in prayer you best pray right now for wind because the pirates are coming." Taylor’s reply was "I will pray but not until you put every inch of sail that you have up because I believe God will answer my prayers." The Captain said "I can’t do that my crew will think I have lost it and throw me overboard." Taylor’s reply was "Then I won’t pray." The pirates kept getting closer finally in desperation the Captain ordered all sail to be raised. His men thought he was crazy but followed orders. The second the last bit of sail went up Taylor’s knees hit the deck and he prayed "Father if it be thy will let there be wind to carry us to safety but your will be done AMEN." At that moment there was a puff of wind and then a gust and the ship sailed away from the pirates before they could raise there sails. That day Taylor lead many of the crew to Jesus.
  • Family: Wife Carla Rogers and an 18 year old daughter Kristen Rogers
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: My dear wife Carla has yet to say any of them really stunk in fact she has mostly complimented me on them.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Son just remember you made one third of the people happy when you came to the Church and one third of the people will be happy while you are at the Church and you will make the final one third happy when You leave the Church so don’t worry about makeing all the people happy because at some point all the people will be happy during your ministry there.
  • Books that have had an impact: God’s Holy Word The Bible
  • Hobbies: Wood working and fishing
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus so loved you that He was not only willing but He did die on the cross so that you might have eternal life. All you have to do is accept Him as your Lord and Savior and trust in Him for your salvation.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He died serving the Lord His God and Savior
