About David
  • Education: 1971 graduate of Biola University; attended Talbot seminary but did not graduate.
  • Experience: Village Missionary 1973-1978 -- served very small communities in rural northern California and southern Indiana. Pastor 1986 - 2006 Country Bible Church, a Mennonite Brethren congregation. Served in a bi-vocational capacity. Occasional Preacher 2006 -, Church on the Esplanade, a Southern Baptist Congregation.
  • Family: Married to Sue Elta who first captivated my heart in the spring of 1970. We have three children: our oldest son has been with Jesus since 1998 (when he was almost 27); our second son, Jason, and his bride live in Chico with her two daughters; and our youngest, our daughter Kerry Sue, is married to Ken Brown and lives 250 miles south of us in Clovis, California with four (soon to be five) children.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: My dad who said, "son, your sermons have have to be eternal to be immortal." He also told me, "the mind can only absorb what the seat can endure."
  • What I want on my tombstone: David served his generation according to the will of God (Acts 13:36NLT)
