About Colin
  • Education: My education did not rise to a high level at school, and most of my learning has come at a later stage as I have supported the Pastor of the church i was attending. My joy is found in the Word of God.
  • Experience: Having Pastored at four churches, mainly smaller in size, I find that people respond to the personal touch, and have had the thrill of leading many people to know the Lord, and have also shared with others the way to do this. Some of those I have been priveleged to lead to the Lord have gone on to do great things for God.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Please make them your own. Bring your own self into the outline and develope it in your way - never preach someone eles sermons - they don’t fit! Ensure you hear from the Lord first, apply the truth to your own life and ministry, then share it with others.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Probably the series that made the greatest impact on me, was a study on ’The Life Of Abraham’. I thought it would be a ’nice’ study, but found it really spoke to me, and the congregation, and made a lasting effect on me.
  • Family: I am married to Glenys, and have three children, two of whom are married with their own families (four grandchildren). All of whom love and serve the Lord in their local church. My wife Glenys went to be with the Lord at the turn of the year, January 2nd.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: With both parents gone ’home’ to be with the Lord some years ago, I can only go back to my first Pastorate, when I had the privelege of having both my parent in the congregation each week. They were so encouraging to me. (I still miss them).
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Having done a lot of Lay-Preaching before coming into the ministry, Glenys has heard me presch since 1950, and still thanks me for my ministry (well, most weeks!).
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Preach the Word - God promised to bless that!
  • Books that have had an impact: Apart form the Bible, the book that has had a personal impact on me ’The Suffering Saviour’ by F W Krummacher [Moody Press ISBN: 0-8024-8427-1]. I had never seen the depth of the suufering of the Lord for ME, until I read that book -read at your peril!
  • Hobbies: I am quite interested in computing, and use this in my study of the Word of God. I have a lovely dog as a ’friend’, she is not far from my side at all times!
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Come to the Saviour, if you know the Lord Come closer to the Saviour.
  • What I want on my tombstone: At home!

This is about our sharing our load with Jesus - because He invites us to do so, and in so doing we learn from Him.

THE SHARED LOAD IS COMFORTABLE Matthew 11:28-30 NIV 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is ...read more

It can be of great encouragement to be aware that ‘God Remembers’. We have a God who ‘cares about our concerns’, who ‘contemplates our conversations’ and who ‘chronicles our commitments’.

GOD REMEMBERS It can be of great encouragement to be aware that ‘God Remembers’. We have a God who ‘cares about our concerns’, who ‘contemplates our conversations’ and who ‘chronicles our commitments’. Let us look into the Word of God, take on board what it says, and as a result be encouraged, ...read more

This sermon is ideal to use for a communion service. Focusing on the extent the Lord went to, to secure our salvation. I had the communion service part way through.

HE WENT A LITTLE FURTHER Matthew 26:39. He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” [NLT] I would like to link this ministry with our ...read more

‘Faith’ is a misunderstood subject, which has led to a disappointment amongst many who claim to belong to the Lord, because of unanswered prayer. Let’s take a fresh look at this topic, and see what the scriptures have to say to us.

BIBLE STYLE FAITH I believe that ‘Faith’ is a greatly misunderstood subject, and as a result it has led to a huge disappointment amongst many who claim to belong to the Lord, because of what appears to be unanswered prayer. It would be good for us to take a fresh look at this topic, and see ...read more

Each Chapter in this wonderful Epistle touches on the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We look briefly at the challenge this brings to us.

THE LORD IS COMING AGAIN AS FORETOLD IN THE FIRST EPISTLE TO THE THESSALONIANS There is no doubt that the Apostle Paul believed in the ‘Second Coming’ of the Lord Jesus Christ; in fact he claimed to have a special revelation about it. In our present time, we find there is a lot of ...read more
