About andre
  • Education: i have a m.div from memphis theological seminary and will go back for the d.min in three years.
  • Experience: i was the interim pastor of friendship baptist church for 18 months. i gained a lot of experience there and it has helped me with this church plant. i also am a chaplain for hospice south of memphis and have serve as a youth minister at a local church here in memphis.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: if my sermons are a blessing to you, great! I am glad to help. however, God will use this information to give you what you need to say to your congregation. in other words, what worked for my congregation will not work for yours. discern what it is that God wants you to say. start early in the week and allow God to work with you all week long. I promise, you will receive the word that God wants you to preach.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: when i was at friendship, i preached a series "being the church". the text i used was luke 4:18-19,21 for the entire 6 week series. it did wonders. it got the church active in the community and they now expect the new minister that’s coming to be active in the community.
  • Family: i am married to the love of my life lisa. we have no children as of yet, but pray for us, we are trying!
  • What my parents think of my sermons: they think i can preach, even though my mother wish I would do something else. she know "church people" and she doesn’t want anyone hurting her son!
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: she likes my sermons. sometimes she thinks I talk about her in my sermons. I assure her that I don’t (I think)
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: pray, study, and meditate on what you are saying to the congregation that you stand before that day. this is why I find it strange that some ministers can preach verbatim another person’s sermon. different people, different context. to me it doesn’t work. that’s why we must work at what we are doing each and every week.
  • Books that have had an impact: over the last 4 years, i have read so many, i can’t even began to tell you!
  • Hobbies: i love to read and when I have the time, love to research and write.i also am availiable for revials, teaching tasks, youth revivals or whatever that will help the spending of the kingdom of God.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: love the lord with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself
