Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom and a reminder of the struggle for justice in our nation's history. It marks the day when enslaved people in Texas were finally granted their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Juneteenth is a time to remember the legacy of those who fought for the abolition of slavery, and to reflect on the ongoing work of dismantling systems of oppression in our society. Let us strive for a world where freedom and justice are truly for all, and where every person is valued and respected as a beloved child of God.
