Jesus Christ was acquainted with grief. Every day in Roman-occupied Judea there would have been executions, and crucifixions just as Jesus suffered. Grief would have been all around.

Jesus was a man who knew sorrow. You don’t need to look further than the bible to know this is true. The Old Testament Hebrew word that is used here is “makob”. This obviously, means sorrow but can also mean pain

Jesus full of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit leads him into the wilderness. God also leads us into wilderness experiences.

Jesus Was Rejected

Jesus was rejected by his family, by his local religious leaders, by Judas Iscariot, by Simon Peter, and then finally by God. So expect to be rejected if you share the Good News of Jesus Christ and him crucified.
The Old Testament word “hadel” is used in this verse that is transliterated as rejected, but this word has also been used in the Bible to mean forbearing.
