"And Ruth said, Urge me not to leave you or to turn back from following you;"
Ruth attachment to Naomi is compared to:
1. Elisha's attachment to Elijah
2 Kings 2:2-6 (Amplified Bible)
2:2 And Elijah said to Elisha, Tarry here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel. But Elisha replied, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they went down to Bethel.
2:3 The prophets’ sons who were at Bethel came to Elisha and said, Do you know that the Lord will take your master away from you today? He said, Yes, I know it; hold your peace.
2:4 Elijah said to him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. But he said, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they came to Jericho.
2:5 The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came to Elisha and said, Do you know that the Lord will take your master away from you today? And he answered, Yes, I know it; hold your peace.
2:6 Elijah said to him, Tarry here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan. But he said, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And the two of them went on.
2. JESUS' faithfulness to the two disciples
Luke 24:28-29 (Amplified Bible)
24:28 Then they drew near the village to which they were going, and He acted as if He would go further.
24:29 But they urged and insisted, saying to Him, Remain with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is now far spent. So He went in to stay with them.
3. Paul's faithfulness to JESUS even unto death
Acts 21:13 (Amplified Bible)
21:13 Then Paul replied, What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart like this? For I hold myself in readiness not only to be arrested and bound and imprisoned at Jerusalem, but also [even] to die for the name of the Lord Jesus.
4. A certain scribe untested loyalty to JESUS
Matthew 8:19 (Amplified Bible)
8:19 And a scribe came up and said to Him, Master, I will accompany You wherever You go.
5. Peter's unsure faithfulness to JESUS
John 13:37 (Amplified Bible)
13:37 Peter said to Him, Lord, why cannot I follow You now? I will lay down my life for You.
6. 144,000 following the Lamb
Revelation 14:4 (Amplified Bible)
14:4 These are they who have not defiled themselves by relations with women, for they are [pure as] virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These are they who have been ransomed (purchased, redeemed) from among men as the firstfruits for God and the Lamb.
B. Yours is mine
1. Where you go I will go
2. Where you lodge I will lodge
3. Your people will be my people
4. Your GOD my GOD
"for where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. our people shall be my people and your God my God"
Ruth displayed exceptional faithfulness to her mother-in-law although she's a Gentile and not a Jew. She even surpassed the faithfulness of Orpah.
1 Thessalonians 1:9 (Amplified Bible)
1:9 For they themselves volunteer testimony concerning us, telling what an entrance we had among you, and how you turned to God from [your] idols to serve a God Who is alive and true and genuine,
