You’ve Gotta See This!!!

Mark 3:7-12

Mark 3:7-8a (HCSB)

Jesus departed with His disciples to the sea, and a great multitude followed from Galilee, Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and around Tyre and Sidon.

Gaining a Following

* Coming and going

* Crowds were coming to see Jesus

* Some travelling great distance

* One encounter was not enough

* The crowds begin to follow Him on His travels

* The draw of a crowd

* The presence of the multitude drew more to come and see

Mark 3:8b (HCSB)

The great multitude came to Him because they heard about everything He was doing.

A Diversity of Reasons

* Miracles

* Some needed a miracle

* Others wanted to see a miracle

* Learning

* Jesus spoke with authority

* Evidence

* Looking for blasphemy

* Looking for violations of Old Testament law

* People seek Jesus for a variety of reasons even today

Mark 3:9 (HCSB)

Then He told His disciples to have a small boat ready for Him, so the crowd would not crush Him.

Pressing In

* Reasons for closeness

* To hear His every word

* To see His face

* To study His ways

* To feel His touch

* The principle of proximity

* Greater intimacy

* The closer you move towards Jesus the greater influence He will have upon your life

Mark 3:10 (HCSB)

Since He had healed many, all who had diseases were pressing toward Him to touch Him.

Proven Effective

* The healing touch

* Jesus had healed many

* Diseases and ailments of many kinds

* Witnessed by many

* A conclusion borne out of hope

* If I can only touch Jesus…

* God’s power will change my life

* Others have experienced it

* Others have seen it

* Why not me?

* The touch of Jesus is still changing lives today

Mark 3:11-12 (HCSB)

Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, those possessed fell down before Him and cried out, “You are the Son of God!” And He would strongly warn them not to make Him known.

The Power of His Presence

* Jesus need only be present

* The possessed fell down before Him

* Acknowledgment of authority

* Philippians 2:9-11

For this reason God also highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow-of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth-and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
