The sermon explores understanding God's power, submitting our will to His, and adhering to His path for a fulfilling spiritual life.

Introduction

Greetings, beloved brothers and sisters. Isn't it a joy to gather together in the house of the Lord, to feel the warmth of His love surrounding us, to sense the strength of His Spirit within us? We are here because we are His children, called by His name, and loved with an everlasting love.

Today, we turn our hearts and minds to a passage of Scripture that is both challenging and comforting, a passage that speaks directly to our own experiences and struggles. It's found in the Gospel of Mark, chapter 11, verses 27 to 33. Let's read these words together:

'They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. 'By what authority are you doing these things?' they asked. 'And who gave you authority to do this?' Jesus replied, 'I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!' They discussed it among themselves and said, 'If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …' (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.) So they answered Jesus, 'We don’t know.' Jesus said, 'Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.'

Knowing God's Power

The power of God is a theme that runs through the entire Bible. It's seen in the creation of the world, the parting of the Red Sea, the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, and countless other instances. This power isn't just something that was active in the past, but it's also something that is at work in our lives today.

God's power is seen in the way He provides for our needs. Think about the times when you were in need, when you didn't know how you were going to make ends meet, or when you were facing a situation that seemed impossible. In those moments, didn't God provide for you? Didn't He make a way where there seemed to be no way?

His power is also seen in the way He changes lives. We've all heard stories of people who were lost in sin, who were living lives that were far from God, but then they encountered the power of God and their lives were completely transformed. They were set free from the power of sin and became new creations in Christ.

But God's power isn't just about what He does for us, it's also about what He does in us. He gives us the power to live godly lives, to resist temptation, to stand strong in the face of adversity. That's His power at work in us.

And finally, God's power is seen in the way He works through us. He uses us to accomplish His purposes, to spread His love and His truth to a world that desperately needs it. He uses us to be His hands and feet, to be His voice, to be His love in action.
