Sanctity of Human Life

Psalms 139:11-16

The day started out by waking up early. You see in our house we always decorate the floor with balloons on the kids birthday. I remember getting up early with Becky and blowing up the balloons and scattering them across the floor. After the kids got up I took them to school and dropped them off. As I was on my way home I stopped by the Post Office to pick up the mail before heading off to the hospital and to a meeting. I walked in and Larry (our postmaster) said, “Did you here what happening in New York?” It sounds like a bomb went off in the World Trade Center.

I like rushed home and like many others in America turned on the t.v. to see what was going on. Like many other in America, I stayed home that day watching the event occur. As a watched I saw the second plane crash into the other tower, I watched as they showed pictures of the pentagon. As I sat there glued to the T.V. watching those smoldering towers, and thinking this was the beginning of world war 3, the first on collapsed. Then I watched as people were diving out of the windows. Then the second one came down and the picture of the people covered in the soot will forever be embedded in my mind.

On that day, September 11, 2001 over 3000 lives were taken. They were taken by people who had no regard for life. They were taken by people that thought they were doing the right thing. Those lives could have been future leaders of this nation. Economic geniuses, some may have solved the deficit problem. Scientist who may have found a cure for cancer. On September 11, 2001, radicals believing they were doing the right thing killed over 3000 people.

On September 12, 2001 4000 more lives were taken and again on September 13, 4000 more, on September 14, 4000 more. Every day in America there are over 4000 unborn babies who’s lives have been taken by doctors believing that they are doing the right thing. 4000 each day, 28,000 each week, 112,000 each month and 1,460,000 each year.

On September 11, 2001 terrorist killed over 3000 lives were taken, and the outcry for justice could be heard around the world. We mounted up the troops and went in search for the enemy. When we found them we destroyed them. We cleaned house in Afghanistan and Iraq. Yet in America 4000 unborn babies are being taken everyday, but I see no weeping, no anger, and no outcry for justice and no one who cares. The enemy does not live outside the boarders but the enemy is with in.

Now some of you think that this is a political issue. But it is not. It is a moral and religious issue.

Luke give us the words of Jesus himself in Luke 16:13, It states, No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. And God is Pro-Life.

Please turn with me to the first Book Genesis…

Gen 1:27

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Each time God created something in Genesis he followed it by saying and it was ______.

God created us in His own image. We are a part of God and God creates every child that is conceived in His image. Even while that baby is in the womb, he or she is in God’s image. Let’s look at what God told Jeremiah.

Jer 1:5

5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

God also tells us to Show Love for one another… I am not going to stand up here behind the pulpit and call those have had an abortion anything, other then offer you forgiveness through Christ and tell you that Our God is a God of forgiveness and second chances but you need to ask for that forgiveness.

The reality is you are not alone, not even in this church today. The reality is that 1 out of 4 women have had an Abortion… In the Church 1 out of 10 and 4 out of 5 are directly affected by someone, either a family member or a close friend that has had an abortion. I am not here to look down on you… I just want you to know that God Loves you and wants to Forgive you and give you the healing today. You just need to Ask Him.
