Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden..”

Florence Nightingale, Founder of modern nursing and known as the ‘Lady with a lamp’, got saved at the age of 16; while reading a wonderful book, she experienced a spiritual new birth. A few months after that she heard God say, I HAVE CHOSED YOU TO SERVE ME.’ On February 7, 1827 she wrote in her diary, ‘God called me to serve Him’ and thereafter she set aside 7 th of every month for self examination and deep prayer. This is what you call as renewing the mind! Constant self examination is a must in order to discern the evil thoughts and annihilate it completely. Setting aside a day of fasting and prayer during the week is a healthy practice that would keep you close to God. It is not enough that you throw away the bad stuff, it should be replaced with good stuff! Are you hearing me?

Florence Nightingale met Jesus, True Light of this world and moved forward in her life to become the ‘Lady with a Lamp”. In 1954, under the authorization of Sidney Herbert, the Secretary of War, Florence Nightingale brought a team of 38 volunteer nurses to care for the British soldiers fighting in the Crimean War, which was intended to limit Russian expansion into Europe.(Russia is still threatening the world even today) Nightingale and her nurses arrived at the military hospital in Scutari and found soldiers wounded and dying amid horrifying sanitary conditions. Ten times more soldiers were dying of diseases such as typhus, typhoid, cholera, and dysentery than from battle wounds. Nightingale's work brought the field of public health to national attention. In 1907, she was the first woman to be awarded the Order of Merit .

Friend, it is not sufficient that you stay an ‘ordinary, impassive’ Christian all your life, content with just visiting church on Sunday. The world is in utter darkness and we need to become the light, are you listening to me? Shine bright! You are called for a purpose and not to just stay selfishly involved only in making money. 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

After my salvation, I started a luncheon prayer cell at the multinational bank where I worked in the midst of lot of opposition. We gathered in the terrace and prayed, I also helped people take water baptism and transform their lives. Marriages and lives were healed. Look around you friend, people are into pornography, adultery, cheating, stealing, addiction and what not; does it not bother you? In the year 2009, we moved into a new city and planted a free School for the poor called Abide School. We offer: free lunch, free uniforms, text books, note books, stationary and a lot more. Jesus said: You are a city set on a hill cannot be hidden!!!!
