Emphasizes the importance of surrendering to God's will, trusting in His deliverance, and committing our spirits into His hands for true peace and life.

Introduction

Good morning, cherished members of our congregation, and welcome to another Sunday of shared worship. I am overjoyed to see your faces, to feel the shared spirit of our community. Today, we gather in the embrace of the Lord, in the warmth of His love, to draw strength, inspiration, and wisdom from His holy word.

Our sermon today is centered on the profound and poignant words spoken by our Savior in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 23, verse 46:

"Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.' When he had said this, he breathed his last."

In these words, we find the essence of our faith, the crux of our belief, and the cornerstone of our hope. They are words of surrender, of trust, of absolute faith in the Father. They are words that encapsulate the divine doorways that lead us to God, the dependable deliverance that we find in Him, and the comfort of dwelling in divine security.

Divine Doorways

In the words of our Savior, we find a profound truth. When Jesus said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit," he was not just speaking about his own spirit. He was speaking about all of our spirits. He was showing us the way to God, the path to salvation, the route to eternal life. He was opening up the doorways to the divine.

These doorways are not physical doors: They are spiritual doors. They are doors that can only be seen with the eyes of faith, doors that can only be opened with the key of trust. They are doors that lead us into the very heart of God, into the very essence of His being. They are doors that allow us to enter into a relationship with the divine, to experience His love, His grace, His mercy.

The door of faith: Without faith, we cannot see the doors. Without faith, we cannot open the doors. Without faith, we cannot enter through the doors. Faith is the key that unlocks the doorways to the divine. It is the belief in the unseen, the trust in the unknown, the confidence in the eternal. It is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

The door of trust: Trust is the hinge upon which the door swings. Without trust, the door remains closed. Without trust, we cannot enter through the door. Trust is the willingness to put our lives, our futures, our hopes, our dreams, our spirits into the hands of God. It is the readiness to surrender control, to relinquish power, to give up our own desires and plans and submit to the will of God.

The door of surrender: Surrender is the act of walking through the door. It is the act of leaving behind our old lives, our old ways, our old selves and stepping into a new life, a new way, a new self in God. It is the act of dying to self and being born again in the Spirit. It is the act of letting go and letting God.

The door of love: Love is the room into which the door leads. It is the space where we meet God, where we experience His presence, where we feel His touch, where we hear His voice. Love is the essence of God, for God is love. It is the place where we are fully known and fully loved, fully accepted and fully embraced, fully forgiven and fully free.
