Preach Christmas week
Explores God's intimate creation of us, His profound love, and the transformative power of understanding our identity in Him.
Good morning, beloved family. It is a joy to gather together in the house of the Lord, united in faith and love. We are here to immerse ourselves in the Word of God, to let its life-giving truth wash over us, renewing our minds and refreshing our spirits.
We turn today to the book of Psalms, specifically Psalm 139:13-18. This passage is a profound reminder of our divine design, a testament to the intimate and intentional love of our Creator.
When we think about the act of creation, we often picture an artist at work. A painter, perhaps, with a palette of vibrant colors, carefully applying each stroke to the canvas. Or a sculptor, chiseling away at a block of marble, gradually revealing the form hidden within. But the most incredible act of creation is not one that takes place in a studio or a workshop. It's one that happens in the quiet, hidden depths of a mother's womb.
God is the ultimate artist: He is the master craftsman who forms each of us with care and precision. This is not a haphazard process, a slapdash assembly line of identical models. No, each of us is a unique masterpiece, intricately designed and lovingly formed. Every detail of our being, from the color of our eyes to the sound of our laughter, is a testament to God's creative genius.
More than our physical bodies: It extends to every aspect of our being. Our personalities, our talents, our passions – all these are part of the design. God doesn't just create bodies; He creates people, each with a unique combination of traits and abilities that equip us for our specific purpose in life.
When we know this: The knowledge of our divine design can be a powerful source of confidence and self-worth. In a world that often values conformity and sameness, it's easy to feel inadequate or out of place. But when we remember that we are each a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, created by the Master Craftsman Himself, we can stand tall and proud, secure in our identity and value.
The intimacy of His involvement: The psalmist doesn't stop at acknowledging God's craftsmanship. He goes on to marvel at the intimacy of God's involvement in our formation. God doesn't just set the process in motion and then step back to watch from a distance. He is intimately involved in every moment, every detail. He sees us, knows us, even before we are fully formed.
