You aint seen nothing yet
Mark 2:1-12 (NIV)
1 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." 6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 "Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" 8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, "Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, ’Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ’Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...." He said to the paralytic, 11 "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home." 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this!"
Look at your neighbor. Say neighbor. You aint seen nothing yet
Preposition: Many people want a miracle in their life. Push through to get your miracle. We want Jesus to heal us. We want Him to forgive us. We want the special life. But what are we willing to do to receive it?
Run the story
Jesus had been preaching and healing. he had just healed a man with leprosy. Jesus told him not to tell anyone but he did. He was getting very popular. So when he enters Capernaum all kinds of people showed up to see him. It says that so many people showed up to see him that there was no room left, not even outside the door.
Mark 2:2 (NIV)
2 So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them.
I. This was an exciting time.
? People wanted to see who this Jesus was.
? He was doing some amazing things.
? Healing the sick.
? News about him was traveling everywhere.
? Priests, teachers of the law,
? Pharisees from all over came to see and hear Jesus that day.
? He was shaking up the world.
? That’s what he does.
Jesus began to preach to them.
II. Now there was this group of friends.
? One of them was paralyzed.
? Life must have been a bummer for a paralyzed man in those days.
? No handy capped parking.
? Special privileges.
? Couldn’t earn a living.
? Very helpless.
Window: have you ever felt that way? Helpless? Not knowing if you could do it? If so I have good news for you. Jesus is for you.
Anyway we assume the people who brought him to Jesus were his friends. Maybe…or maybe they just had compassion on the guy. But they bring him to Jesus because they know He can help Him. Or at least think he can. Or at least hope he can.
III. Cant get to Jesus
? They get to the house and can’t get to see Jesus because of all the people.
? So when they see this instead of walking away and saying I can’t get to him.
? They decide to bring him through the roof.
Window: Have you ever been there? Where you knew you needed Jesus so much you were willing to go through the roof to get to Him. It is at those times that we experience our biggest break through in life. When we are willing to do what ever it takes to get our healing. Or to get our breakthrough.
Sometimes we have to break through in order to break free.
IV. Might not know how to break free
Window: Sometimes we might be in a place where we don’t know or are unable to break through.. Have you ever been there and then someone came along side of you to help you break through? Praise the lord for those that are willing to help someone get a break through. I know a few people in my life that were willing to carry me to Jesus.
V. Jesus does something different
? So they lower him through the roof to Jesus and Jesus as always does something different then expected.
